"Velour" is a specialised paper for pastel paintings. Its surface is similar to felt paper, which serves to lock in layers of pastel. These portraits often have a very soft aesthetic, and can be perfect for long coated, fluffy animals. It's also ideal if you like a more 'painted' look, with gentler backgrounds, rather than complete photorealism. I love creating dogs and horses on this paper surface.
